Aleksander D. Panek

Warsaw, Poland — President, Polish National Energy Conservation Agency; Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology


Aleksander Panek is an engineer with more than 20 years experience in mathematical modeling, thermodynamics and building physics. His specialties include building energy simulations, elaboration of statistical climate data for energy calculation, energy auditing and methodology of environmental impact assessments. Dr. Panek studied Applied Mathematics and Technical Physics at Warsaw Technical University and received his Ph.D. in Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer from Silesian Technical University.
 

The author of more than 120 articles in international journals, Dr. Panek is frequently invited to participate on scientific committees regarding energy efficiency and sustainable development in Poland and throughout the European Union. He is the former president of the Association of Energy Auditors in Poland and vice president of Poland’s Energy Conservation Foundation.
 

Dr. Panek is currently active in the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment, the International Framework Committee of the Green Building Challenge and serves as president of the Polish Association of Energy Auditors. He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of Sustainable Building Conference in Oslo 2002, Tokyo 2005, Melbourne 2008 and Helsinki 2011. Dr. Panek also serves as an auditor for the Global Environmental Facility, responsible for evaluating and assessing energy efficiency in buildings.
